Inspiration

The inspiration for The Walkers Course is not singular, but includes a myriad of ideas that have produced some of the finest inland golf courses in the world.

In terms of length, The Walkers Course will play to a similar distance as Heathland gems that can be found in England, such as Woodhall Spa, Sunningdale Old and Alwoodley, which means no more than 6,500 yards from the tips.

Philosophies of some of the old masters such as Colt and MacKenzie will be incorporated, and the course will aspire to provide an experience that honors what these great architects created at many sites including Swinley Forest and Pasatiempo.

An iconoclastic ethos, however, in the spirit of Crump and Fownes, will permeate the course as well. The Walkers Course will not judge the worthiness of an architectural feature by the name of the architect who created it, and will not be beholden to a singular, established architectural style.

The goal of The Walkers Course is to provide the golfer with a memorable three-to-four hour journey filled with strategic decisions, short green to tee transfers, strong pacing, and enjoyable conversation.

In short—a unique and enjoyable walk through nature rarely matched in the United States.
